Abstract

The article considers the need for agrotechnical support of economically valuable potato varieties in the conditions of the Eastern region, which is an important factor in improving the food security of the region. An analysis of the current state of potato production will be carried out, as well as agrotechnical measures aimed at improving the quality and sustainability of the crop will be proposed. Special attention is paid to the introduction of effective methods of cultivation, adaptation of varieties to the climatic and soil conditions of the region, as well as the management of plant resistance to diseases and pests. The importance of preserving the genetic diversity of potato varieties to ensure food sustainability is being studied. The role of scientific research and innovative approaches in improving technological production processes that contribute to the sustainable provision of high-quality potato products to the population of the Eastern region is also noted. The results can become the basis for further research and development of recommendations for agronomists, farmers and agricultural specialists, as well as for improving the competitiveness of potato cultivation at the regional level.
