The article presents the results of a study of the species composition, distribution, age and seasonal dynamics of Eimeria, Strongyloides and mixed Eimeria–Strongyloides infestations in sheep in Eastern Kazakhstan and the Abay Region of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The study was conducted in 2024–2026. A total of 1,800 sheep were examined, including 1,440 animals in Eastern Kazakhstan and 360 animals in the Abay Region. Parasitological investigations were performed using complete helminthological examinations and intravital diagnostic methods. Fecal samples were examined for Eimeria oocysts and helminth eggs followed by microscopic examination. Eimeria species were identified based on the morphological characteristics of oocysts, sporocysts and sporozoites. Seven Eimeria species were identified: Eimeria ahsata, E. crandallis, E. faurei, E. intricata, E. ovina, E. ovinoidalis and E. parva, as well as one nematode species, Strongyloides papillosus. In Eastern Kazakhstan, Eimeria monoinfection was detected in 441 sheep (30.8%), Strongyloides infection in 125 sheep (8.7%), and mixed Eimeria–Strongyloides infection in 388 animals (26.9%). In the Abay Region, the corresponding rates were 33.6%, 13.1% and 25.0%, respectively. Infection rates depended on animal age, season and geographical grazing zone. The highest prevalence of Eimeria infection was observed in lambs younger than one year, whereas Strongyloides infection was more frequently detected in animals older than one year. The highest intensity of Eimeria infection was recorded during summer. The results demonstrate the need for comprehensive parasitological diagnosis and differentiated preventive measures based on animal age and seasonal patterns of infection.
