Abstract

The article presents the results of a study on the species composition of shrub plants in the territory of the city of Semey. During the research, the main shrub species distributed in the region were identified, and the characteristics of their distribution, ecological condition, and the impact of anthropogenic factors were assessed.

The study examines the species composition of shrub plants across various functional zones of the urban area, including residential sectors, roadside areas, parks, industrial zones, and riverbank territories. The biological characteristics of the shrubs and the intensity of their distribution were also analyzed.

Floristic research results revealed the proportion of native and introduced species in the region. The ecological condition of shrub vegetation was evaluated based on morphological indicators, life forms, vegetation cover density, and resistance to anthropogenic pressure.

In addition, factors such as traffic load, industrial pollution, soil degradation, and the effects of urbanization processes were considered.

The results of the study make it possible to characterize the current state of biodiversity in the urban ecosystem and to propose measures for the effective planning and protection of green areas. The obtained data can serve as a scientific basis for improving urban ecological monitoring, rational management of natural resources, and the development of practical recommendations aimed at increasing the ecological sustainability of the urban environment.
